Open Water Diver Course
The PADI open water diver course will teach you the fundamental knowledge and skills you need to dive with a buddy, independent of supervision within the limits of your training and experience.
As a PADI open water diver, you will be able to obtain air fills, scuba equipment and other services. You will know how to plan, conduct and log open water, no decompression dives, when properly equipped and accompanied by a buddy. When you become a PADI open water diver, you begin a lifetime of adventure and discovery. Your PADI certification is an internationally recognised qualification and your passport to the underwater world.
Completing your certification with C.R.E.S.T. provides you with personal tuition and flexibility in course structure. With a maximum of 4 students per class and no minimum, the program is ideally suited to singles, couples and family groups who may need a more individualised program to suit their lifestyle.
The open water diver course is conducted over 4 days and is comprised of 1 discover scuba dive in confined open water, 5 knowledge development topics, 4 confined water dives in a swimming pool, 4 open water dives and 1 adventures in diving open water dive.
Course prerequisites
- Diving medical - Australian Standards 4005.1, require all entry level scuba divers to undertake a diving medical by a qualified diving physician prior to any inwater training.
- Be 12 years of age or older – children between 12 & 15 years of age can qualify for a PADI junior open water certification.
- Complete all independent study and knowledge reviews 1 to 5 of the open water diver manual or cd rom prior to the commencement of the course.
Course inclusions
- Medical form and list of doctors who perform diving medicals.
- Open water diver crew pack containing – PADI diving manual or cd rom, PADI recreational dive planner, training logbook, certificate and certification card.
- Full equipment hire for duration of course.
